Jake is in terrific form, Mountain Angel (16/1) Dark V.There are another 11 winners among the entries, however, and ten of them have won their only start, so it is not a race to be dogmatic about.
Roger Varian was winning this for a second time when Daahyeh was successful last year and he has another big runner in Setarhe, who came from last to beat Cirrus at Newmarket and would be fancied to confirm the placings.
William Haggas has a strong Queen Mary candidate in Sacred and also has one for the Albany in Golden Melody, who powered away in the closing stages over this trip at Haydock.
It takes a top-class sprinter to win what is still a relatively new race at Royal Ascot and Roger Varian believes ante-post favourite Pierre Lapin fits the bill.
A half-brother to Harry Angel, he was evidently a difficult horse to keep condition on at two, but he won both his starts and was impressive in the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury.
While he still needs to improve again on two-year-old form, he is undoubtedly an exciting prospect. Wesley Ward drew a blank here last year for the first time since , but he went desperately close with Kimari in the Queen Mary and says he is "expecting big things" of the filly again here.
Clive Cox is sweet on Middle Park runner-up Golden Horde and he has much less to prove than Mums Tipple, who now has to put behind him two top-level disappointments, most recently over a mile, although there's every chance he's a sprinter so he can't be dismissed.
Another of the new races, so no trends to go on, but Tim Easterby was quick to identify this as the likely target for smart Newcastle 6f winner Art Power, even though he might have had each-way claims in the Commonwealth Cup.
A mark of 97 might well underestimate him. Band Practice was last seen at the Breeders' Cup. She had been a triple 5f winner before that and has earned her big weight.
A race that has been very much on the up, with Estimate, Stradivarius and Kew Gardens among its recent winners.
None of the 15 entries have so far shown form anywhere near their level, but they are nearly all unexposed runners with the potential for significant improvement at the longer trip.
Andrew Balding, who won this last year with Dashing Willoughby, saddles Lingfield Derby Trial runner-up Berkshire Rocco and anyone who has backed English King for the Derby will be looking for a big run from him.
Charlie Appleby's Al Dabaran, who was placed twice in Group races at two, is the chief danger on form.
Backing Sir Michael Stoute's runners has long proved a good system in this race and Friday's clearcut Newbury winner Laafy will be ahead of the handicapper despite a 4lb penalty.
However, he is still far from certain to make the cut. Higher in the weights Gordon Stakes fifth Dal Horrisgle makes some appeal, as does the talented but presumably fragile Deja, another who goes well fresh and one for whom success here would mark a welcome return to the winner's enclosure for Peter Chapple-Hyam, 13 years after Winker Watson landed the Norfolk.
This however is a race that will not take shape until later in the week. Both go well fresh. We have the best free tips for all the races on day 4 of Royal Ascot to help you find more winners.

Flying Aletha. The Lir Jet. Racing Post Tip. Eye Of Heaven. He was last seen 18 days ago winning at Newcastle over 6f and the step down in trip should still suit so I expect him to be a leading player here.
He is a 4-time winner and is stepping down in trip for the handicap. He has won on soft ground and with some bookies paying 6 places.
Currently top of the market are joint-favourites Flying Aletha and Mother Earth. Both have had runs recently, Flying Aletha at Gulfstream 29 days ago winning over 5f and Mother Earth came second at Navan 9 days ago.
She looked like a speedster when winning on her debut at Newcastle 17 days ago. She is one who will look to improve and with her getting a stand side draw, she will look to dictate the running with her speed and be a player here.
I think with her having the most time off the track that will play a factor in the race as I feel most of the British runners have had to rush their prep race for this.
He made a big impression when winning on his debut 16 days ago at Yarmouth. He has been shaped for this as he is looking to go up to the 1m 4f mark and future progression should follow as he has been lightly raced recently.
He is my NAP for the day. The contenders to watch for are Anthony Van Dyke , who ran a brilliant race against Ghaiyyath at Newmarket 14 days ago.
However, I think he will find it hard to replicate that run. Fanny Logan proved her stamina over 1m 3f at Haydock 12 days ago when 2nd to Manuela De Vega and will be one to get involved here.
One to watch out for in the market is Hamish. Currently leading the betting for this race is Pierre Lapin who is 2 out of 2 on runs.
They were over 6f on good to firm ground. Trainer R Varian is having a good week here and this horse is a work in progress and is one to keep tabs on, but I think there are more experienced horses in the field.
